01/05/02 It's was early in the morning, not quite light out when Darlin' and our son, Marty left to make a full day JCAD run. It's sleeting out as they load the truck with camera, cooler and clipboard. Marty wrote down back way info for me and told me all the things they saw on their adventure. They went West on Hwy 54 passing the Lake of the Ozarks and went through Osage Beach. Headed down Hwy 71 and the sleet turned to great big snow flakes swirling down around Nemo, Missouri. On down to Bolivar and had a great stop at Country Classic Antiques. They had a nice visit with Ruth and learned that Joy is the store manager. Marty gave JCAD brochures to all the customers as Darlin' took many, many pictures for the latest update. They stopped at other antique stores in the area and left brochures, too. On up Hwy 13 to Clinton to stop by and visit with Tom and Barbara at The Emporium Flea Mall. On down the road and Marty got to meet Merry at Wagon Wheel Antique Mall and Flea Market. Had a great time and got many good photo's for their update, too. Marty says they saw snow on the road and the trees and it had stopped snowing by the time they came home the back way. They made really good time and were back home before dark. Marty figured it up and they had traveled a little over 350 miles doing updates today. Enjoy the pretty snow! 01/10/02 The sun is shining and it's 40's out as we left and headed East on Hwy 54. Saw a really pretty red tailed hawk flying low looking for lunch along the side of the road. Darlin' and I stopped by to visit Anita at Anita's Keepsake Kottage. Darlin' got some good photo's and I got to stand around and visit. Still having a lot of pain if I ride in a vehicle, even only going 30-40 miles takes me days to get over. Moan and groan, I'm truly sick of it and I'm sure all the back way readers are sick of it, too! Met a nice lady also named Anita, she looked familiar and she mentioned that she had met us before at Trade Fair Mall in Osceola and at Countryside Antiques South of Camdenton. Of course, she got the latest version of our JCAD brochure! It's a small world, huh? So nice to see the sunshine and home for Darlin' to get busy working on updates. Take care and come travel with us anytime! We always enjoy having you read along. 01/12/02 A cloudy day out and gusty winds blowing, I can hear the outside wind chimes ringing. Darlin' and Marty have headed East on Hwy 54 to go do an update in Eldon at Blast From the Past. Marty is again writing my back way story on the clipboard as he rides with his Dad. He's getting to be quite the update helper. I'm very proud of him. Lots of traffic out today on Hwy 54. Gene is at the store today and Darlin' got many great photo's and Marty got to try out all the neat stuff kept here. He says Gene has lots of Nintendo games, fishing games and Game Boy extra's. So sad to hear that Blast From the Past was broken into on New Years Day and many beautiful vintage display cases had their glass shattered. I'm always saddened when a wonderful store has such great bargains and such good folks and then someone comes along and does something as low down as this. Gene was nice as always and Darlin' got good update materials. Him and Marty are home and busy downloading the pictures and getting ready to do this update. Ya'll be careful and have a good time traveling the back way. We're always ready to welcome you to our Lake of the Ozarks area. |
