Sunshine and 30's this morning as we head out the Back Way. How nice, the people out on Hwy 54 have manners this morning. They moved over a lane so we could pull out. :) The cedar trees are bright green and the hardwood trees will be budding soon if it keeps up this weather. Fields of wheat are shiny green as the new wheat comes up. It's been almost a month since we've been able to run for JCAD. We've been steady working from home but a nasty flu bug kept us there. Whether we liked it or not! Lake Ozark, population, 741, no one knows the road goes back to one lane. All together, now, we head down the bottleneck to the Osage River. The river level is down, but a pretty shiny green color. Going across the toll bridge, the lake is beautiful. See 1 lone ski-do out playing! Turned left onto TT Hwy, then right onto Hwy 5 on up to S & W Bargain Spot. So GLAD to see Bill out and about after his back surgery. Store is now back open and bargains galore! Billie has everything green on sale in March! 20% off for St. Pat's Day! What a GREAT idea! Nice visit and on up to Laurie to visit with Betty at Country Rose Antiques. Poor Betty has swollen eyes and feels terrible. The flu bug has struck again. Wonderful new items in her store! Daughter is on-line, so we can now e-mail Country Rose! Yes! Took many nice pictures and back we go on the toll bridge. Gave the lady at the toll booth a JCAD brochure! She's happy to have it! Home to get busy on updates!

Beautiful snow covers everything as we head down Hwy 52 East. All the cedar trees are just BEAUTIFUL with the snow covering their branches. Luckily, the roads are clear. Drove on into Tuscumbia, MO, population 146. Turned right onto South Hwy 17 and crossed the Osage River. It looks up to flood stage, many tree limbs down. Crossed Dog Creek, running low, crossed Brushy Fork, just a winter wonderland! Absolutely beautiful! Crossed Barren Fork Creek, so pretty! Entered Iberia, population, 650. Entering Pulaski County and as far as you can see, it's a wonderful winter scene! Entering Crocker, MO, population 1, 077. All slow and covered in snow. Roads are heavily salted. Ten miles to Waynesville. Crossed the Gasconade River, the bluffs are beautiful and the river is full! Waynesville, population 3,207. Crossed the Robidoux Creek, on down Route 66 to find our new store! "Scently Sweet Candles" Have only e-mailed Brenda, haven't met her yet. Pulled up, got out and gathered our stuff, a lady walked by and we said hi, and said we were "Joe and Cathy" and Brenda came running over to hug my neck! "It's the internet people!" What a WONDERFUL new JCAD member! Her store is exploding with scents! On up to Hwy 7 to Richland. Crossed the Gasconade River again, it's looking really good! One of my favorite fishing rivers! The huge cedars are bent over covered with so much snow! Just takes your breath away it's so pretty! Can see for miles and miles and miles. Enjoyed the back way home!

Cloudy, but warm out. 60's as we headed out towards the highway. We're driving towards blue skies as we head East on Hwy 54. Missouri DOT out patching on the highway. Spring flowers are popping up all over. Yellow jonquils are blooming in wild patches by the road. The ponds are full, one with baby ducks following their parents. New to water. The sun has broken through. Sure feels good to soak up some rays. See Hickory Hill Antiques up ahead. Turn left by conoco station onto Farm View Road. We are here! GREAT visit with Clark and Diane! Enjoyed the Drive coming home the back way.

Beautiful sunshine as we head up 52-18, looking at an A-10 warthog passed overhead shining in the light. Turned West on Hwy 52. Lots of traffic out, everyone is enjoying the sunshine! It's been cloudy for many days. Drove into Eldon, population 4,419. Headed West on Hwy 52 to the car wash. After our work yesterday, the car is covered underneath with mud. Our neighborhood had just graded some of our dirt roads, so of course, it rained! It was quite sloppy. The sunshine today will take care of that problem. Wonderful Darlin' has quite the job. So glad he's feeling better from that nasty flu bug! Wallah! After many rounds, the car is clean. Poor Darlin' is give out! Took 52 West Towards Versailles. Beautiful pinto ponies happily graze with the beef cattle. The trees are just starting to make buds. Quarter horses enjoying the sun. Huge new barn going up! Bunches of jonquils line the driveways. Saw the vet visiting on the dirt road, they're pulling the portable cattle chute. Time to vaccinate. Purple ground cover shines along the roadway. New batch of wheat "squeaking" it's growing so fast! Turned right on North Hwy 5 following behind a school bus. Passed fenced in area on the right--use to be a nuclear war silo, warhead in the ground, some pulled out, some not. Large farms with feed silo's on both sides, many fields of rich brown dirt. Farm on left has 6 clothes lines full of clean clothes! From diapers to Levi's. Their chickens are out scratching in the garden spot. It's been plowed and disked. Noticed a cemetery on the right. Haven't seen it before. Moreau Creek is running clear. Driving into Fortuna, saw sign for Manito Lake Conservation area off on left. Old Barn has Maramak Caverns painted on the old tin roof. Willow Fork Creek is looking good! Into Tipton, population 2, 026. Turn left at the light. Stay on Hwy 5 North. Saw house that had flower bed going down side of the driveway. Filled with purple flowers and yellow and white jonquils. Beautiful! Windmill turning gently in the breeze. Lots of farm equipment. This road runs alongside the railroad tracks. Big patches of wheat such a pretty shade of green. Good for your soul. Bellair has huge yellow colored weeping willows, their new leaves just glow yellow. Saw many lama's in different age and colors in a field on the left. We're in Boonville. Had a GREAT visit with Joe and Stephanie at Hy-Way 5 Antique Mall.

Cold wind, but in the car with the sunshine, it feels good! Off we go to Hwy 54. Heading West towards Osage Beach. Boats running on the beautiful Osage River. What a sight to see! Lots of traffic at Bus 54/Hwy 54 junction but everyone seems to have manners this morning. How nice to see. The big boats are sparkling in the sunshine. 44 degrees on the bank sign. Alright! Best eats in town. Kay's Restaurant. Ate and ate and ate. It was WONDERFUL! The "all you can eat" breakfast whipped us! ha ha West on Hwy 54 to J.E.B.'s Junction for gasoline. Don't know about your neighborhood, but our gas price has gone up 10 cents in the last 2 weeks! Now it's up to 97 cents a gallon. Away we go! Turn left at the square, heading South on Hwy 5. Bright yellow goldenrod light up both sides of the road. Hey-car shifted into 3rd gear. We're set. So much new construction farther down South Hwy 5. Ted Nugent cranking out on the radio, Nervous Breakdown. Row after row of jonquils. I love spring! Voyager Marine alive and well. Getting out for lunch. We're in Decaturville, only place is "One Stop". Big white smoke from across the fields, Blackfoot playing "Train, Train" as we entered Laclede County. Saw red Toyota truck for sale by the road. Went back and talked to the owner. Coming back tomorrow to buy it! Crossed Goodwin Hollow Creek, on up South Hwy 5 to Annie's Flea Market. On downtown to pass out JCAD brochures at the antique stores, and then on down to the Healthfood store!
