05/03/02 Happy 22nd Birthday Jesse Jo! We have a surprise for you! You won the Backyard BBQ from KOMU TV 8! They'll be here soon to broadcast from your yard. The big satellite truck arrived and we met Mark and got to apologize for the incorrect Lake Road number. How embarrassing! Darlin' got the hickory started in our BBQ smoker that we had brought over. Marty had cut up the hickory from Weeds Wood this morning. He cut them into chunks on the table saw and filled a cooler full of hickory for cooking the brats at the party. Made fresh lemonade for us all, Jesse and Marty put up the flags, Brian helped move the table and chairs outside. Pretty soon, more folks arrived. A KOMU van is here, got to meet Marybeth and she set up the camera, Laura and Nikki brought the Johnsonville brats and the Dairy Queen ice cream cake! We all had a nice visit with them all. Children and some of their friends are here to celebrate with Jesse. Dave did the weather at 5:00 p.m. with Jesse and her niece, Sarah. Wasn't my usual Hostess self, thanks ya'll for all the help as I'm getting around slow, will be so glad one day to feel better again. Must be a fire nearby as firetrucks, ambulance, EMT's with all kinds of sirens going off at 6:00 p.m. broadcast. The whole crew was cracking up, these folks do have a sense of humor! It was extremely LOUD! While waiting for the next interview, the monitor came up with the commercial for the Backyard BBQ and it was great fun to watch Nikki and Laura do their commercial routine! We wish them the best with graduation. Everyone was so nice and of course, they all got a JCAD brochure. Mark is taking one to Rosemary for me, I've been e-mailing her, I feel like I know her. Thanks for the daily e-mails and congrats on your upcoming marriage! Your party was wonderful. Never knew how many camera shy friends we had! They enjoyed all the goodies later that night. The brats cooked on the hickory fire were delicious, a first for the KOMU team! The cake was great and melting fast in the sunshine! We had a good time and could not have pulled it off without you! Jesse even got a cute BBQ grill, with apron, hat and cooking utensils! So amazing, just sent in a postcard because one of the dates for the Backyard BBQ was Jesse's birthday, never imagined she'd win! We were able to get lots of digital pictures of all the TV folks while they worked. My Darlin' said our family could be the Osbournes of the Ozarks! Jesse does have red hair! ha ha The crew are all heading down to see the hotrods at the Magic Dragon Car Show at the Bagnell Dam strip on their way back to the studio. Thanks to all involved in helping us celebrate! Jesse will have to wear her apron one night as she works at Denny's! It was amazing that the back way traveled to see us this time! How nice! See, I told you that soon you'd all in the back way! Take care and stay in touch! 05/10/01 Beautiful day out as my Darlin' headed out to go do updates in Clinton today. He had lots of new brochures printed when I got up this morning, got them folded and Marty packed his cooler. We got an e-mail from him this afternoon, he's in the Henry County Library and say's that Bill and Melinda Gates have been there, too. New computers and super fast internet access for only $1 if you live outside Henry County. We always try out our web pages on different types of computers with different browsers. Always troubleshooting the sites. The e-mail says he's had a good trip so far. Stopped at all the antique and flea market stores on the way, passing out hundreds of JCAD brochures to old friends and new folks he met along the way, too! Said he had a nice stop at the Emporium, thanks for getting me two issues of the Missouri Chigger while you were there and then over for a GREAT visit with Merry and Kay at Wagon Wheel. Got some new outside shots for their web page pictures and on their heading on the brochure. He got lots of great information and as always, had a blast visiting at this store. They are truly wonderful and it's always a pleasure coming here! I miss seeing these folks, ya'll keep us in your prayers, that we'll be able to come visit with you again soon! As always, we appreciate your business! My Darlin' passed out each and every brochure. He was mighty tired when he got home, and the pictures turned out great! Hope you enjoyed traveling along, come back real soon! Springtime is always a GREAT time to travel in central Missouri! 05/12/02 Cloudy skies out and now it's misting rain as we head West on Hwy 54. Just crossed Wrights Creek and felt a nice cool breeze! So glad to be out and about with my Darlin'. Happy Mother's Day to us all! So glad to have talked with my Mom, Ollie Witcher today and tell her how much I love her! The bluffs are just beautiful and the trees are all green with full leaves. Lots of yellow coreopsis blooming everywhere, crossed Blue Spring creek and it's up and muddy! Took pictures of the Osage River, it was full and there was a lot of fog. It started raining as we reached the Walmart tower. Cars are crawling along, Darlin' dropped me off at Kay's for a surprise Mother's Day breakfast! Marty, Robin, Jesse, Ray, Dave and Sarah are here, lots of good food and a good time! We went over to Bagnell Dam to check out the water, Dave and Marty down to the river to see the fishes. Got some great pictures of Sarah! Back home and I have gnomes on my front steps, and more plants blooming on my porch. Thanks to all my children! I love all the time spent with you, I loved all the plants and the card was funny! Thanks for a wonderful day, Darlin' home and gave me a card with a wonderful ring inside. What a GREAT day! 05/15/02 My daughter, Robin and son, Marty drove me to Columbia to my Dr. visit. They were both nice and passed out JCAD brochures for me up and down Broadway. Painful ride, a little better on the way home. I really like this town, enjoy the energy of college towns. Thanks for all your help today children, and as always, I love you madly! Couldn't do this without all your help! 05/26/02 Up as usual. Darlin' has printed new JCAD brochures, cool, they have our JCAD links on the front cover of this issue. Folding them and Robin and Jesse are over to get Marty and all go to see the Salute to Veterans Air Show up at the Columbia airport. Said they had a good time in shops downtown and then caught the shuttle from the Hearnes Center. Darlin' and I are off West on Hwy 54, turned right at the new light and on down the road towards the strip. Our first stop was at the Willmore Lodge, so nice to leave info here. The honeysuckle smell so good as you turn down their lane. Lots and lots of traffic out, welcome to the Lake of the Ozarks and enjoy the holiday. Stopped at the Lisa Frick Gallery to leave brochures. This neat shop is on the right. On down to the Orchid Motel, it was nice to meet Joe and so happy to see their e-mail on their business card. Our first traffic jam was happening at Business 54 and HH. I love it! Passing out brochures to motels today so all these folks can come see us online from their homes in a few days! Iowa, Kentucky, Illinois, Colorado, Virginia, Arkansas, New Mexico, they're all here! On down the road and saw the red and white truck, had to stop, had a nice visit with the Litsey's at their great shop, Wood'n ya Wanit. Would love to have them in JCAD. Made many stops at the antique stores in the area, too. Love to hand out brochures to folks outside the shops, gives them a chance to read it. Always good to visit at Town and Country Motel. Even got a new menu for my collection while I was there. Got to meet new folks out on KK, great shop and met Michelle at Somewhere in Time. On the way back, stopped by to say hi to Lucy at Oak Leaf Gifts. Out to our favorite Condo's, that's Lazy Days condominiums, I love all the houses on their road, the lake view is great and they're always such friendly folks. Gave brochures to Kay inside and one to the nice security lady at the entrance. We're almost out of brochures as we head back East on Hwy 54. As always, had to stop at the State Park. Got to get out and walk around some, take some great pictures, slow down and enjoy the view. It's such a wonderful park and we always enjoy coming here. So many boats out on the water, the sounds are interesting, so many styles and sizes! Refilled our cup with ice and drinks and off we go back towards the beach. Last stop, the Golden Door Motel, always good to see Geniece. Got a picture of your lovely flower bed, too. We went by so many wonderful resorts and motels, sorry, out of brochures for today. You'll be on our next routes. Feeling the ride and the stops. Even got to leave some maps at the Elks Lodge 2517. So many folks are traveling here to our area, so glad to see you. Hopefully, I'll get to give you a JCAD brochure in person. We're getting around slower and less often these days, but it was good for my soul to get out and meet new folks today. Had a painful, but happy back way ride home. The ox-eye daisies are in bloom and you can even catch the yellow Missouri primrose opening up in the late afternoons. Drive carefully, all our lives depend on it. Enjoy the view, it's truly lovely. Come ride with us again soon. It was 65 degrees with a cool breeze, bright blue skies and sunshine this day of the Memorial Day weekend at Lake of the Ozarks. Enjoy!! Take care and stay in touch! |
