6/17/00 Cloudy out as we head West on Hwy 54. Everything is so nice and green. Lots of traffic out as we cross Wrights Creek. The Shopping Mall parking lot is full! Lots of happy shoppers. Several boats and jet ski's out on the Lake. As we crossed the Glaize Bridge of Lake of the Ozarks it's 60 degrees at 1:56 P.M. Our first stop today is at Osage River Company Store. How nice to meet Robert and visit with Karen again. Sorry we missed Sandy and Sandy. Nice to see so many customers in the store and Of course, we had t meet everyone and give them a JCAD brochure. They collected a unique array of items. I always enjoy asking them about their collections. Got a good update and Darlin' got some great pictures! On down the road to visit with Lucy at Oak Leaf Gifts. Even got to meet one of her daughters, Cathy from Kansas. My goodness, while we were doing her JCAD update, several couples we had met earlier today came into her store, also. Imagine that! They all had read and used their JCAD brochures. Be sure to tell Lucy that you found her store on-line! She won't ask, but she does want to know! Surprise her! Thanks! Darlin' got many photo's and I got all the info for these unique collectibles. This store is ALL collections of one sort or another. On down the road passing out brochures to all these lovely folks on vacation at the Lake. Ya'll have a fun time while you're here and have a safe trip back home. It's been over a year since we added our URL to the tailgate of our Toyota. Now we see URL's on all kinds of vehicles but we have not received an e-mail yet telling us they saw it! Are you out traveling The Back Way? We'd love to hear from you. Be safe! 6/23/00 Got a call from our oldest daughter, Ray, around 10:00 that exciting things were happening! She's starting to have contractions, her due date is in 5 more days! Marty and I went over to stay with her awhile and her husband, Dave, went off to work soon after we arrived. We kept the clock close by and yes, every 5 minutes here they come! After a couple of hours, she was getting really uncomfortable. So she paged Dave and when he arrived, Marty and I went home to pick up Darlin' and we all headed to St. Mary's in the City of Jefferson. Got there after midnight and went through the emergency exit. Little did I know how good that coffee was tasting and how long a night it would be. Dave's Mom, Melody arrived a little after us. The waiting began. Let me tell you, there was a steady path beaten between the waiting room and her birthing room! It's so exciting! The darkness turned into sunrise, Darlin', Marty and I took off for our favorite restaurant in Jeff, Mel's Country Cafe. Excellent service and excellent food. Now that's much better! Here it is June 24th now. Got back and Dave and Melody also went to get some breakfast. Hours went by, the path is cut in the carpet now! ha ha Many things going on, around 2:00 PM it's down to serious business! I had the honor of also being in the birthing room with Ray and Dave. Now, I've had 4 children, but have never experienced anything like this in my life! It is a little girl, Sarah Nicole, and she is absolutely beautiful. She opened her eyes and looked at me when the doctor was holding her. I cried like a baby! I waited to hear her cry and then took off running down the hall to all the others waiting. My Darlin' is a Grandpa and I'm a Grandma. We are truly blessed. I know this story is not antique related, but I had to share it with you. It was the best day of my life! Thank you Lord, we sure do appreciate it! Can't wait until Sarah is riding with us, too, as we travel The Back Way with our family. |
