Beautiful blue sky with white puffy clouds as we head West on Hwy 54. Lots of motorcycles out and about as a Biker Rally is being held this weekend at the VFW below Bagnell Dam. Lots of people out and about, coming to the Lake area for Labor Day Weekend. Gasoline in Camdenton is 138.9 and at 9:15 a.m. it's already 91 degrees. Drove across the new bouncy bridge at the Niangua Arm of Lake of the Ozarks. Why is it so bouncy?? Sure looks different. It's still an obstacle course to drive through. Watch out for it! Everything is much drier looking as we head West. Many of the big sycamore tree leaves are turning brown, just plain thirsty. On into Macks Creek, pop. 272. Even the sumac plants are dried up. But, we've had over 100+ temperatures for 6 or 7 days now, everything dries up in that kind of heat. All the fields and yards are brown and crunchy as all the grass has dried up. Crossed the Little Niangua River but couldn't see the water. Now we're in Hickory County and into Preston, pop. 154. Crossed Hwy 65, staying on Hwy 54. Stopped in Hermitage at the Red Star Grocery Store for supplies and to pass out JCAD brochures. Off we go thru Wheatland, then took a right onto Hwy 83 North. About 2 miles, we turned left onto Hwy T. Lots of folks out here are working on their vehicles. Guess they haven't heard of a shade tree mechanic as they are all out in the direct sunlight. Getting hotter out already. Turned right onto Hwy TT. We got to talking about last winter when we drove this back way and we found ourselves in the beginning of a snowstorm. Ah, that and all the ice water today, keeps our thoughts COOL! :) Hwy TT runs into Hwy 13 about a half mile North of one of our favorite stores, Trade Fair Mall. At Hwy 13, we turned left. Good to see lots of folks here already. Darlin' brought the camera, I've got the clipboard and many, many JCAD brochures. Off to work we go! Kathy and Paul were both here today, we got to have a real good visit. Met many interesting folks from all over the country, gave them all a JCAD brochure and got to find out what they all collect. Had a GREAT time! It was neat, as we were leaving, there was a couple out front with a JCAD brochure and their map, planning where they would go to next. I love it! Refilled the travel cup with ice, the water jug with cool water to bring up front and headed back the exact same way as traffic is crazy out now. We did make one extra stop at a new store we found in Camdenton. It's called Haunted Mansion Antiques and Collectibles Mall and it's at 130 E Hwy 54 near the Signal gas station. GREAT new store, well lit, clean, good items at good prices and friendly folks running it. Only got to visit for a minute. Stop by and tell 'em JCAD sent ya! We'd love to get them in our antiques and collectibles web site and in the JCAD brochures. I think we could really help their new business grow. Heading home now, ya'll be careful as you travel the back way on this Labor Day Weekend. Have a fun trip and come see us again real soon!

A beautiful day as I head out and about for local towns. Heading East on Hwy 54 to Hwy 52. Heading West on 52 towards Versailles. Lots of folks out, even several Amish buggies. Gasoline prices are the same in Versailles, 149.9 per gallon. These extreme jumps in gasoline prices sure but a hurt to everyone. Met the new lady at the Versailles Chamber of Commerce and a guy in a New Mexico t-shirt and of course, they got JCAD brochures. This chamber also adds our brochures to the packets of local information. We appreciate that. Put new brochures in the folder and down the road to visit with the nice lady at the Glass and Collectible Shop. She told me her name years ago, she's at 101 N. Monroe, right on the corner of the square. We ran her store as a free listing the first year JCAD existed. GREAT place, tell her JCAD sent ya! Then down to Camps market for excellent fresh vegetables and fruits and chocolate delights. Heading back towards Eldon on Hwy 52. The flower beds are beautiful, one garden is row after row of colorful mums! Back into town and stopped to visit at Trade 'N Place. Had a good visit with Linda, hey! found out Dan has gotten married! Congratulations! Left brochures for them to pass out and met all the folks in the store. They collect some unique things! On town to Maple Street Emporium. Wilma was busy re-arranging stuff in the store. She's learning her way around in Randy's arranging. We'll be back soon to update and take new pictures. They always have neat stuff! Across the street to visit with ladies from Texas (you're in the back way!) that were visiting with Gene at Blast From the Past. Had a fun visit! This guy can get more stuff in a store than I have EVER seen! It's wonderful to look thru! And Gene is very nice and friendly. He cares about his customers. Left JCAD brochures and back into the Toy and down to visit with Amy, Alicia and Anita, three generations at Anita's Keepsake Kottage. Amy met me outside, painting class was just finishing up inside, what great pictures! Always have a great visit here, and even got a quote from Alicia for our next JCAD newsletter! Thanks so much! What a busy day! The sun is setting as I drive home the back way. Ya'll be careful out there, slow down and enjoy the view.

Beautiful blue skies as we head West on Hwy 54. Lots of traffic out and about on this fine Friday. the Osage River is mighty low. Couldn't ask for better temperatures to be out and about, 70's, my favorite. It's mighty dusty at Linn Creek, working on the new highway. Traffic is stopped at Niangua Bridge as they are paving the new sides. The Lake of the Ozarks is just sparkling in the sunshine. seagulls are flying all around. Now we're off and running. Lots of folks with boat and canoes heading toward the lake. Gusty winds as I write, sign says welcome to Macks Creek, since 1872. Turned left at the Jct. 73. On down the road, pastures are greening up since last time we were here. New homes being built, looking good. Into the city limits of buffalo, pop. 2,414. Saw a new store before we got to Polly's. It's on the left and called Hattie's Place. How wonderful! It's an older home full of quality antiques and collectibles. Love how everything is well marked and the displays are awesome. Had a really nice visit with Richard and Mark. They were kind to pass out some of our brochures. What a nice place. Can't wait to come back and visit again. They carry Miss Moo's Ozark Mountain Cannery! You'll have to come see! They are at 1112 W Main. Stop by and tell 'em JCAD sent ya! Would love to add them to our JCAD family. And next door to them is another shop, A Little Bit of This & A Little Bit of That Consignment. They weren't kidding! They have a fine variety of items. We left the Toyota parked here in the shade, gathered up our update stuff and crossed the highway to have a wonderful visit with Nancy at Polly's Flea Market Mall. So nice to see Nancy looking so healthy and happy! Modern technology in medicine is a wonderful thing! Come visit this store, you can't miss the hillbilly out front! Just go to her page and see. New booth owners, new items, unique stuff. I always want to buy something each time I come. She has the items you just can't live without! After a couple of hours, we headed down Hwy 32 towards Bolivar. Stopped at a new Antique Mall and Yesterdays Image Antiques. Ah, the boys from the Bus Stop. Quality stuff. See, Sheryl and Phyllis, you're in the Back Way! Nice to meet you both. Also stopped for a nice visit with Mavis at Bo Peep's. They were working on Christmas trees for the Buffalo open house. Such a wonderful store, always a pleasure to visit, have been coming here for years. Crossed the Pomme de Terre River. Gusty winds still continue. Brand new houses in a subdivision on the right. So many new homes. Looks mighty dry out this way. Lots of farms and animals out eating on pastures that are almost yellow. don't know how they are surviving. On down Hwy 13 thru Bolivar to see the HUGE billboard for Country Classics Antique Mall with the JCAD URL across the bottom. That looks so GOOD! I'm so proud! Stopped at a new store, Briar Patch to leave brochures with Carol. Nice store, stop by and visit. On down to Country Classics Antique Mall. Had a nice visit with Carol. She was a busy woman. Sharon and Larry are not here today. Hope all goes well in Columbia! This store has changed so much! Looking good! GREAT update, GREAT pictures, missed visiting with the owners, they are so interesting to visit with. They enjoy working together as husband and wife, too. We met lots of nice folks from Missouri and Arkansas and of course, they all got a new JCAD brochure! New URL for the front door, and we're off. Pomme de Terre River is looking pretty good as we head out of Bolivar. Turned onto Hwy d and took it up to Hwy 64 and turned right. Saw many Missouri mules today at two different farms. Crossed Lindey Creek and made a nice stop to refill the water cup. Ooops, it's a busy road, guess it's getting to be the time of day that folks are heading from work. Big pretty, white fluffy clouds in a bright blue sky on this first day of fall! The camera is full and we have maybe 10 brochures left. We're headed the back way home. Into the community of Rimby, then Louisburg, pop. 115. Crossed Hwy 65 and there's a huge pond off on the right. Lots of big farms and patches of beautiful hardwood trees. A new back way for us. At the 4 way stop, turn left to head North up Hwy 73 towards Tunas. Turned right on to Hwy 54 and headed towards Camdenton. Got to the Niangua bridge just at the right time. Stopping traffic as they are paving the highway. We were the last one thru from this side. Thanks, guys! Busy out. It's 92 and dry, dusty winds. No wonder we drank over a gallon of water today. Headed home and so happy to be here. Ya'll be careful and when you get a chance, please come travel with us again.

Beautiful sunshine out, 70's, an ideal day as we head W on Hwy 54. Lots of traffic out and about, some you surely do have to watch out for! Just a beautiful day, I know we said that over and over all day long. Some nice stands of bright orange pumpkins, shucks or bundles of dried corn stalks, bales of hay, ornamental squash, Indian corn and pots of mums in many colors. Thru Eldon, turned left on Hwy 54 and on down to Barnett, pop 215. Is the old auction house or flea market on the left coming back to life? Hope so! Such a pretty blue sky out, the field on the left is freshly mowed and raked hay. Smells so good. Ought to be a good batch of big round bales of hay. All the black Angus cows are walking in a row across the field to the pond. Several are already taking a dip! Several really pretty pinto horses and the new pond on the right has really turned out nice. We watched him build that pond each evening with his little dozer. We'd be heading home, he'd be home working it. Did a fine job. Now into the town of Stover, how wonderful to see Casa Bonita has moved to town! Stopped at the Toy Store and left brochures. Lots of butterflies are out and about today. All the fields have been brushhogged and are looking good. All right! They're open! Turned around and went back to Herrick's Antiques! So nice to meet Brian and Shirleen in person. What a wonderful store! They're on-line and computing as I write! I love it! They have the main JCAD requirement. They're ready to go! Such a wonderful store! Some unique items you won't find anywhere else! A collection of years, and you sure can tell. Tell 'em you read about them in JCAD! Thanks! We'd love to have them in our JCAD family. The Toyota is giving us a hard time. The battery and charge light came on. We stopped and Darlin' worked on the alternator plug. light go off and on. Back on the road into Windsor, pop. 1,344, hey! The streets are packed with all the folks! Lined up on sidewalks, lawn chairs, oh my! We're the last through before the parade! The band is on the side street waiting on us! Felt like throwing JCAD brochures like candy, so instead we waved and hoped they read our URL on the tailgate! Ah, the Princess wave! Ha ha It was great fun! Crossed East Tebo Creek and into Calhoun. The truck lights are staying on all the time now. Stopped out under a shade tree at Irene's Place. Luckily, this business is not open today. It's also across from the feed store. After Darlin' tried several things, a nice fellow came over from the feed store to help. They both pondered on it, we sure did appreciate his kindness and goodwill. Heading on into Clinton, see folks out riding on the Katy Trail beside us. Still a really nice day out, I mean if you've got to have vehicle trouble. First stop was at Emporium Flea Mall. What a great store! Got to visit with Linda. Lots of customers, and yes, they all got a JCAD brochure. There was one little white haired lady that asked me, who do you work for? I told her I was Cathy and my husband, Joe, I yelled hey Darlin' wave, he did. It did my heart good to tell her that we ARE working for ourselves. Sometimes I lose site of that and that's what means the most. We claim it, we work hard at it, it's a labor of love. Thanks lady, I sure did need that today. It was so nice to meet you. Got a nice update and Darlin' got some wonderful pictures. Off we go to Wagon Wheel Antique Mall. We both truly enjoy visiting with Merry when we come to do updates. She's got such a great store and such a GREAT attitude! That's very important in this business. She marked off the sold items while we got to cover her store from wall to wall! Our Hwy 13 stores are leading the pack in JCAD. Working together, we can really make this internet stuff work right! It does take ALL of us working hard at it. But, the counts are adding up, the guestbook is filling up. It's working! Was really sorry that we couldn't make all the new stores in Clinton today. We really want to try and beat the darkness home. If our battery is not charging, those headlights won't last long. We'll go see them first next visit. Heading the back way home on Hwy 52. We'd seen several trucks of seed or corn? today. They are combining as we drive by, mighty dusty, it's soybeans! As they have dried in the fields, they glow golden colors. Have seen a few maple trees, their leaves are starting to turn bright colors. Maples are beautiful in the fall. The truck battery light is still on after several attempts. Still, to have trouble, we couldn't have asked for a better day! Enjoy, be safe as you travel the back way home. We took the dirt road across when Hwy 54 turned onto Hwy 65. Even with trouble, rather take our chances on dirt. Hwy 65 is too busy on a Friday night for us. Had several quail run across in front of us! They are such pretty birds. Really nice out this way. This is a new back way for us. Turned right onto Hwy V and into Benton County. This took us to Hwy 52 at Stover! GREAT new way! Nice places out and we drove into the community of Mora. My notes stopped. No more writing! Did we make it home to Miller County? Yes, we did, it was getting mighty dark. Were we thankful! Yes, we certainly were! My dear Darlin' and wonderful son, Marty worked all day Saturday. It was one of the brushes in the alternator. They repaired it and Toy runs fine! Thanks guys!
