Our son, Marty's 13th birthday and now a day in history. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families and loved ones. Makes you appreciate your family and friends dearly and then reality hits you again and you cry.

Not even light out yet as Darlin' headed out on a long JCAD run. I'm recuperating from a fall and sprained back. I had to ask him about his trip and write as he told me of the things he saw. He's off thru Hwy 52, traveling through Versailles, Stover and through Windsor. He left a JCAD brochures at Herricks, he mentioned they have paved their driveway and their flowers were gorgeous. Hope they are fine. New store at Cole Camp and he left brochures. Supposed to have an antique show there today, but saw no signs of it. Saw a bunch of baby horses on the way to Clinton. First stop was at Wagon Wheel Antiques and Flea Market Mall. Had a great visit with Merry. She's always an inspiration to us. Lots of folks looking for U.S. flags. The Chamber of Commerce was not open today, as it's Saturday. They always enjoy passing out our antique directories and we appreciate it. Down the road to stick a brochure on the door of the Rusty Shovel. Traveling down the road to the Emporium Flea Mall. Nice visit with Tom and Barbara. Lot's of great photo's to add to the web site. He headed South of Clinton and the truck stop was open. All new highway to Lowry City. Stopped at Trade Fair Mall. Took a picture of Paul working on the porch. Had a nice visit with him and Kathy. Took lots of pictures. Then on down to Hwy 54/13 and saw a really nice new sign for Country Classic Antiques. All new, all different. Met the new owner, Geraldine. Welcome to JCAD! Our best wishes to Larry and Sharon in whatever they choose to do now. Lots of pictures. Took Hwy 64 to Preston, then Hwy 54 back to Camdenton, then through the beach and headed home. This was the way the story was told. What a long, exhausting trip. Darlin' fell asleep on the couch shortly after coming home. He had taken over 150 pictures today and passed out over 100 brochures on this JCAD adventure. I missed out on a lot! Hope to see ya'll soon!

Cloudy out and soggy as we head West on Hwy 54. We had quite the thunderstorm and heavy rain around 4:00 a.m. this morning. Both sides of the Hwy have been mowed and everything is green this morning. Lots of folks out and about today. See the U.S. flags flying on buildings, homes, cars, RV's and just everywhere. Makes you so sad to think of all the tragedy and lives lost, but so proud to be American. Down to Laurie's Used Books and Internet Cafe to upload our latest updates and met Carolyn. Darlin' is working on the computer and I'm working on The Back Way. It's hard for me to sit or stand very long and be comfortable. Wish my back felt better. Darlin' got the new update CD and him and Marty went back to the internet cafe to complete today's updates and then they stopped by Osage Beach Flea Market for a wonderful update and visit. I missed out on seeing them, but Marty does a good job on store updates for me. Thanks! Him and Darlin' even finished the day off by bringing home a pizza. Thanks guys! Will be so glad to be well again. Painful to ride, so I'll ask and write about their JCAD adventures.

Another cloudy day as we head out to do a JCAD run. Everyone's flowers sure are pretty since we've gotten some rain. Heading East on Hwy 54. See the flashing lights of the mowers cutting the grass and brush beside the road. Sign says road work next 4.8 miles. The landscape sure has changed. It's amazing how they can literally move mountains to create new highways. Slow down for the detour, lots of big equipment running everywhere. Turned left on Hwy 87. Beautiful yellow flowers. My back is giving me fits. Down to see about another appointment with the Dr. and can't get worked in today. I must come back tomorrow. Into Eldon and stopped for a short visit with Gene at Blast From the Past and put a new URL sign on his door. On up Hwy 87 to Burgers Smokehouse. Dee was friendly as always, we got to meet Philip Burger today and give him a JCAD brochure. We bought wonderful goodies, it's always a pleasure to shop here. We've eaten many a pack of Burgers Smokehouse jerky over the years on our trips. We saw a pot-bellied pig in a field on the right before we came to the Moniteau River. We had called it many an animal until we got close enough to see it well! Pair of pretty black horses running in their pasture on the right before we got to the Eldon City Limits and Business 54 and S 87 Hwys. Turned right and the airport is on our right. A big U.S. Flag at the Head Start and see geese in the yard at Anita's Keepsake Kottage on the left. How wonderful to see them so busy. Alicia is here today, too! What a treat! Got to hug her neck and tell her congratulations on the new baby due in December. She's a wonderful Mom. Darlin' all over the store taking pictures and bringing in new brochures. I'm getting around slow, so visited for a few minutes and tried to get to feeling better. Got a new URL banner for their front door. Time for the next painting classes, look out! We're being stampeded! Nice visit, come see them for their Open House coming up for their 2nd Anniversary Sale October 2nd thru 6th. Stop by and tell 'em JCAD sent you the Back Way. Be safe in your travels.
