An absolutely gorgeous day out as we head West on Hwy 54. Its cold out, 40's, but the sunshine feels great! Saw lots of new antique stores and lots of old antique stores. There is a lot of traffic in Camdenton. Turned on Hwy 5 South. Pretty ride and we made it to Lebanon, MO. Nice to be out in farmland again. Into the community of Twin Bridges, population 44. Folks getting out their Halloween stuff. The gardens are done. Temperatures in the 20's and frost took care of them. Plow them up and dream of next years crops. Lots of S curves here. Can see the Osage Fork River at the two bridges. Beautiful hills of oak, hickory and sycamore trees just starting to turn fall colors. See 3 baby deers, fawns, in a fence on the right. Triplets? Why are they in a pen? Come home to Wright County, and we truly do. Heading out Hwy E by Aunt Eliza's old place, the limestone bluffs are shiny, the trees have the prettiest colors by far. How neat to see the smoke from the first fires from the woodstoves. The smoke is going straight up today. Such a nice white house on the right with a huge front porch and blue chairs to rest in. The view is lovely. Turned right onto Hwy Z. Appaloosa horses and a covered bridge heads to one farm. Stopped to pick some wonderful watercress at the Osage Fork River. Crossed Dry Knob Access and turned left onto Hwy 32. With each bend in the road, it's just so pretty. Crossed Cobb Creek. Baby blue skies and warm sunshine and into Sunnyview, yes, it most certainly is! Turned right onto Hwy N. Passed by Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church. Peppy La Peau! A skunk has been run over in the road. Whew! At N outer road, you see the traffic on I-44. Turned left and passed by a place, had to turn around and go back. Came back to Doyle's Old 66 Trading Post. Met Jan and had a real nice visit. She has a nice shop! Crossed the Hazel Green creek. Jan told us about L & M Gifts, we back tracked to go meet Mary and leave JCAD brochures. She's coming up to the Eldon Turkey Festival this weekend. Had a wonderful ride home the back way. Beautiful day out. Passed out many, many JCAD brochures and met some really nice folks. Until next trip, ya'll have a great time traveling the back way. Don't miss all the great places!

Friday the 13th! My lucky day! My Darlin's little hickory tree sure is starting to turn fall colors. The leaves are glowing yellow in the hazy afternoon light. Cloud cover moving in. My clothesline is full, so off we go East today on Hwy 54 towards Eldon. The sumac bushes are bright red. The sassafras and hickory leaves are turning bright yellow. Now and then in the trees, you can catch a glimpse of bright red colors starting on the maple trees. East 54 is quite bouncy. Up to Hwy 87 Jct. and turned left. Always watch all 4 directions at this junction. It's always busy. The sky is 3 shades of blue with 80's for the temperature. Really nice, no wonder there's lots of traffic out. We're going the right way, tho, most folks are heading West. Gusty winds straight out of Mexico. We can see Jack-O-Lanterns, scarecrows and lots of mums! Gas is 143.9 here today. On down to visit with Dan at Trade N Place. So happy to tell him congratulations on his marriage to Jettie. Can't wait to meet her. The types of instruments for sale here has really grown! New and used guitars, banjos, mandolins, fiddles and drums. Stop by and try out your favorite on jamming day. The chairs are out, the right front corner is center stage. Visited with Mary Ann as she's working her booth to get ready for the Turkey festival. She's been to read The Back Way! How wonderful! Thanks for letting us know! We appreciate the kind words. Your booth is looking GREAT! We even met a really nice lady, Eileen, that gave me a business card for her daughters store in Sedalia, called Becka's. It's right across the street from our friends at I-land Computer Store. Got a good update, Darlin' got great pictures. We appreciate your business. On up the street to give Meg new brochures to leave at each table her tea room. Thanks, we appreciate it! On up Maple Street to Maple Street Emporium. Had a good visit with Wilma, she's been a busy woman changing both window displays. Come see the witch in the window. They have gotten in some really nice furniture, wardrobes, hutches, tables and chairs. Come see! We even got to meet Randy and Wilma's daughter, Megan. How nice to meet the children. They all compute! Got pages of information and Darlin' got some great pictures. And of course, we left lots of JCAD brochures for them to give away tomorrow. All the stores here on Maple Street are gearing up for the Eldon Turkey Festival that starts tomorrow. Off we go, heading out of town. Such a beautiful sunset this evening, hope you are able to get out and enjoy it, too. I love October days. Missouri has the brightest blue skies in the fall. The leaves are peaking orange, yellow and reds. A truly blessed back way home. Enjoy and be safe on these highways.

My Darlin' has been sick for several days now. He was wonderful and printed me more JCAD brochures to take on my run today. It's Saturday and traffic is thick as I head West on Hwy 54. Stopped by Pick's Fireplaces to leave a brochure for Charlotte. Hope to meet her soon. On down to Camdenton to go North on Hwy 5. Met Merle and Donna at Cross Antiques on the right. A new shop, stop by and visit with them soon. Left a brochure at Wanita's Collectibles by Wee Chef. Sign on the door says, "sorry, be open again Sunday". On down Hwy 5 South to stop at the Antique Mall. It sure has filled up. Passed out JCAD brochures to the owner and all the customers. Hello to the lady in the Key overalls from Oklahoma! Hope you had a GREAT trip! Back to Hwy 54 and turned right. Visited again with the nice folks at the Haunted Mansion Antiques. GREAT shop, do stop and see for yourselves. Heading back towards Osage Beach. Stopped at the Timbercreek Cottage and left a JCAD brochure and info for Shelly. I've been talking to her about JCAD since they first opened this shop. They have neat stuff, do stop by. Went across the Hwy to turn left at Hwy KK. On down to Wedgewood Antiques. What a nice new shop! Had a great visit with Connie. This shop is 2 doors down from Oak Leaf Gifts. Come visit when you have a chance. One last stop at the Town and Country Motel to leave brochures for all their customers. Got my Darlin' a 7-Up to make him feel better. Ya'll be careful and have a great stay here at Lake of the Ozarks. See ya on the next Back Way trip!
