Rain drops falling as we head East on Hwy 54. The fall foliage is starting to turn real pretty colors. The hickories are bright yellow. The sumacs are shades of red. Turned left onto Hwy 87. Then turned right onto Manor Road by the big yellow maple tree. Residential area, beautiful large weeping willow tree on left. Takes us out to Hwy 87 North. Stopped to put my JCAD box in plastic, the black clouds are looming. Don't want the brochures and update work getting wet. On towards California, Missouri. Around here, the fields are still dry and brown, no hay baled or in the fields to feed the cows. Don't know what will happen as winter gets here. It's been a rough drought for so many this year. The maples here are bright orange and reds. Just beautiful. Didn't realize so many of these trees are full grown maples! Had to drop off brochures at Burgers Smokehouse. Sign says Kindle Homestead, next one is Bybee Farm. Can see the town of California on the next hill. New home on right has beautiful flower beds. Reds, yellows, petunias glowing everywhere! Into California, population 3,465. Dropped off brochures at Recollectibles. Nice visit. On down the road and came to the community of Bunceton. The trees are magnificent. That's the only word big enough! Starting to rain again as we near Boonville. Too many beautiful trees, Darlin' and I took turns taking pictures. The maples are just gorgeous! See the tower for Boonville up ahead. Crossed the overpass of I-70. Folks missing out on the back way. Made our first stop at Hy-Way 5 Antique Mall. Got to listen to Joe wanting to do something different, GET ONLINE! Opportunity is knocking! Answer the door! Dropped off update stuff, Darlin' got some good pictures, I gave brochures to all his customers. Met some nice folks from Ohio. Had a nice visit with Joe and we'll be back later! On up to Your Money's Worth. Left the update material with Sandra, Darlin' got some photo's of new stuff, come see their huge window displays! Quite artistic! Stayed just a few minutes, we're off on a mission! Out on a new back way for us! Took Hwy 87 North to Hwy Z. Turn left onto beautiful road. Saw 3 patches of tobacco plants in rich, black soil. Never been this way before, heading towards Glasgow. Went through the community of Boonesboro. Stopped to see Boone's Lick Salt Spring. Met nice folks and gave them JCAD brochures! On off towards Arrow Rock, stay on North 87. Crossed Richland Creek, looking at field after field of corn stalk remains. Crossed Hurricane Creek in Glasgow, population, 1,295. Guess town is on the right, down by the river. See huge twin bridges, one old, one new. Crossed the Missouri River. It's HUGE! A levy is shiny green off to the left. Hey - there's almost sunshine coming thru the windshield onto my clipboard as I write. Lots of huge red International Tractors all around. Farming country....missed my road, was taking Hwy P South, instead took a left at Hwy D. Out on the Lewis and Clark Trail and into beautiful Arrow Rock population, 70. The streets are blocked off, festival in progress! Parked down the hill from the museum and loaded up with brochures. Had a fun time passing out brochures to everyone! Then down to the Arrow Rock State Historic Site, real nice place. Take Hwy 41 down to give Jerry Butler a hard time. His antique store is at his home and his flowers are great. He's fun as always, met customers and told them about the JCAD guestbook. They collect pedal cars and other vintage toys! Away we go down Hwy 41, crossed the Lamine River, looks like catfish to me! Several boats out in the river and more at the bank. NOTICE! The City of Boonville DOES NOT charge you to park on their streets. Some cities do...how can you charge me to park on a MO State Highway? Picked up work and visited with the stores again. What a day! Back to Hwy 87 South, the flower beds and beautiful trees were really a joy to see today, traveling the back way home. Hope you get out and enjoy it too!

10/12/99
Sunshine and blue skies as we head East on Hwy 54. Stopped at Eugene, MO to get gasoline and pass out JCAD brochures. No one knew Aged to Perfection was on-line! Lots of traffic as we head into the city of Jefferson. Off on Madison Street exit, can see the capital in the distance. Hang a left onto East McCarty. Down to the State Library and info center. Left JCAD brochures and went next door to pick up a box of Missouri maps. We sure do give away a lot of them. Up to Hwy 54 East. Crossed the Missouri River. Trees are orange and yellow at Holts Summit. Into New Bloomfield, population 480. Passed out JCAD brochures to Bank Star One, and all stores in town. Back onto Hwy 54 East, many apple trees are loaded down with huge apples! Crossed Hillers Creek and passed out brochures all over the town of Fulton. Antique stores, auto museum, grocery and auto stores. Now we're headed a new back way! East on Hwy D, bouncing along going to Reform, MO. Prettiest green yards I've seen in months, even hay in the hay fields. Many S curves, huge bluff, bright yellow leaves, down to Forks Creek, reds, yellows and orange, the mountains go straight up. Tractor thrashing or combining beans. Crossed Auxvasse Creek and up the hill. AAAAAAHHHHHH, Nuclear power plant in the field on the right. Never been so close to it before. Gravel road leads right to it. No wonder everything is green around here! At Hwy D we turned left to go to Hwy K. Right on it for new adventures. As we turned, sign read Readsville, following field after field of corn. Beautiful flower beds, saw the sign entering Montgomery County! Wow! What a view! Took Hwy P thru Americus. Flag a flyin' high. Crossed creek with no name. Driving thru the holler, yellow leaves falling everywhere. Starkenberg church has a 1873 date. What a view! Can see for miles and miles. Going down towards the river. Bluff at Katy Trail in Rhineland. Two farmers plowing and disking. What good looking dirt! Left JCAD brochures at the feed store, as the lady there is always so nice to us! Left on Hwy 94 to Hermann. Right at Jct 19 and into town. Crossed Loutre River, fish are jumping! Crossed the newly paved Missouri River bridge, barge going by on Darlin's side. Just brown swirling water on mine. Into town and had a GREAT visit with Pete at Pete's Plunder Antiques. Gave JCAD brochures to everyone we met in town. Over to Second Street and met Bruce at Antiques Unlimited. What a great shop! On down Hwy 19 to have a wonderful visit with Frank Tucker at his antique shop! So proud to hear he just bought a computer! We look forward to getting e-mail from him! Sun going down, Darlin' and I took turns driving the back way home. Such a beautiful sunset! Hope you enjoyed it, too!

10/15/99
Beautiful afternoon as we head out doing updates for JCAD. Darlin' is home working on the computer, so I'm taking our daughter, Robin with me as part of her business class and to be my photographer. Lots of traffic out enjoying the day! Headed East on Hwy 54 to the Eugene Hwy 17 exit. Make a right off the exit and turn left right beside the Total station. Met a couple out walking, stopped and gave them a JCAD brochure! Down the road to visit with Lloyd at Aged to Perfection. Got some good photo's, saw some really unique items. Lloyd always does come up with one of a kind items! Stop by and visit with him and let him know you found him through his web page. He's new to all this computer stuff! His daughter and partner, Judy has the computer and e-mail. Busy day to be out and about. It was nice spending time with Robin and teaching her The Back Way. Until next time!

10/20/99
A really nice day out as Darlin', Robin and I head out to The Lodge of Four Seasons for the eBay seminar put on tonight by InterNET Solutions! As we were heading out the elevator, we came across Steve and two ladies. We know Steve from meeting him 2 years ago in Washington, MO and e-mailing him all the time. How nice to see him again! Which one is Nora? How nice to meet her in person after all those wonderful e-mails! The other lady is Becky from INS. They kept her busy taking pictures during the show. Found the conference room and met folks coming in the door and passed out a few JCAD brochures. How wonderful to see the room filling up. Hope it's packed! It was a very informative meeting, we all learned so much! Thanks to all three of you for bringing this to the Lake of the Ozarks! We really do appreciate it! Hope you get to travel the back way home! Have a safe trip and come back and visit anytime!

10/21/99
Beautiful blue sky as Darlin' and I head West on Hwy 54, a lot of traffic out and Wrights Creek bridge is really rough as we cross it. Through Osage Beach, Lake of the Ozarks is sparkling in the sunshine! On through Linn Creek, Camdenton and Macks Creek. Turned South on Hwy 73. Everything is so dry and brown. Heavily fertilized hay fields are just showing spots of green. Through the community of Branch, MO. Forest ranger tower on the right. Entering Dallas County. Stopped at the Phillips 66 station at the Junctions of Hwy 64 and Hwy 73 to pass out JCAD brochures to everyone. On down the road and into the city of Buffalo, MO, population, 2,415. Stopped at several stores, left a new JCAD brochure on the door of the Bus Stop Antiques. We only get to visit with them at antique shows anymore. Next door is a new Flea Market so we went in to meet the owner. Moving her shop soon to be home based. Good luck! Had a nice visit with the librarian in Buffalo. They have 2 nice computers for patrons to use to surf the web! Come on down! Driving around town and had to stop at Polly's Flea Market Mall. We met Nancy when she first bought this place almost 2 years ago. The store is looking really good and she's always a pleasure to visit with. Gave her and all of her customers a JCAD brochure. About to leave and she said, "Let's do it." She's ready to sign up on JCAD. I was in shock! How wonderful! So I went out to the truck to bring in NEW to JCAD info, got started with listings and Darlin' got busy taking photo's! Making her page tomorrow and then I'll be back to link to it. When we got through there, we were driving out of town and came across a really neat wagon in a yard. Huge white house, neat vintage iron fence and saw a lady on a riding mower cutting the grass. It's Davis Antiques! How wonderful! They moved here from Halfway, MO. Met Donna Davis and must say she has the most Norman Rockwell plates I have ever seen! Excellent depression glass and so much more! Stop by and tell her JCAD sent ya! We'll surely be back next time we are in town! Absolutely beautiful day to be out traveling the back way!

10/24/99
Frosty out as we head West on Hwy 54. The temperature got down to the 20's last night, up in the high 30's now with a beautiful blue sky. Toyota has new oil and filter and ready to roll! Thanks Darlin' and Marty! Appreciate that! Several vehicles beside the road, didn't make it home last night. Tree leaves are pretty colors with the sun shining on them. Turned right onto Bus 54/W exit, taking the back way across Bagnell Dam. How pretty! Take a left onto Hwy MM and headed across the toll bridge. Now, it's off season rates of $1.50 per car. Stopped at Kerr's Country Mart for donuts and milk. Off down Hwy 7, enjoying the view, at Hwy 65, turn right. Go on down to Hwy MM/83 and turn right again. Then watch for Hwy 83 South and turn left onto it. Truman Lake at Big Pomme Arm is sparkling in the sunshine. Seagulls are everywhere. Trees sure are pretty, many reds, golds and orange leaves. Big limestone bluffs on each side of the road. Turn right onto Hwy 82 West, went through the community of Harper, going towards Osceola. Old log house on the right by Bear Creek. Pretty blue water at Truman Lake Weableau Arm. Turned left on Hwy 13 South. See the sign, had a great visit with Kathy and Paul at Trade Fair Mall. Passed out many brochures to folks from all over the U.S. Had an extra nice visit with a man from Oklahoma City! Hope he's reading this! Took Hwy V thru Vista, just a short jaunt to eat our lunch and enjoy the view, Hwy V goes back to Hwy 13. Turned right onto Hwy 54 at Collins, MO, heading towards El Dorado Springs. New highway, looks like cable, phone company, someone has taken down all the roadside signs. Looking for Hwy J, oops, road sign is laying on the ground, had to back up and turn left. Anyhow, away we go towards Stockton Lake. A new back way for us. Drove by Eagle Ranch shooting range, stopped on the left at Birdsong Conservation Area. Got a refill of ice tea and away we go! Entering Cedar County. Saw a neat truck, turned around and went back. Met the "Original Model A Hillbillies"! How cool! They travel all over the USA doing fairs, shows and parades! Real nice folks, met the family. Crossed the Sac River into Stockton, MO, population 1,579. Turned left at Hwy 32 East and had to stop and see the Stockton Lake Dam. The lake lies South of the dam! Bunches of sailboats out on the lake. Tiny while sails in the sparkling blue water. What a pretty lake! Got out the binoculars to get a better view! Several boats with guys fishing! Look, he caught one! Even saw a homemade one, a canoe sailboat, son climbing in, looks like Dad is shoving off from shore! Their orange life jackets shine. Great day for sailing! Crabtree Cove Park off to the right and crossed Crabtree Branch. A little water out, beautiful hawk fluttering down to land in the treetop. It's might dusty at Bearcreek. See the sign for Needmore, MO, 3 miles off on the right. Entering Polk County and into Fairplay, population 442. Saw several more hawks as we head towards Bolivar, population 6,845. Back onto Hwy 13 South now, saw the wonderful billboard for Country Classics, looks really good, especially with the JCAD URL across the bottom! Had a great visit with Larry and Sharon at Country Classics Antiques. They are wonderful as always! Now, they even have a booth for eBay in their store! A GREAT idea! Got a nice update and now heading out of town. Stopped at the Woods grocery parking lot for a BBQ treat! Folks in parking lot had BBQ cooker going and sales from their RV. What a nice set up! Backyard Bar-B-Que! Enjoyed an excellent burger, cooked on a hickory fire, excellent prices, too! Got one of their menu's and gave them a JCAD brochure! Smiling and munching as we head the long back way home!

10/29/99
Beautiful day out as we head West on Hwy 54. Hey! We just found out we're going to be Grandparents! Our oldest daughter, Ray and her husband, Dave are gonna have a baby! Yippee!! A first for us all! Busy out, lots of traffic. The colorful leaves along the Osage River are shining bright. Thru Osage Beach, Linn Creek to turn left on Hwy 5 South at Camdenton. Down to visit a new store, Countryside Antiques and Collectibles. Met owner, Linda, and told her about JCAD. Larry and Sharon at Country Classics in Bolivar had told Bob about us! On down Hwy 7 thru Montreal to Richland. Had a nice visit with Frank and Elmer at Fleas R Us. Sorry to hear that Katherine has been sick. Hope she's feeling better everyday! Have Elmer print out The Back Way for you to read! Beautiful sky at sunset as we traveled home the back way. Hope you got to enjoy it, too!
