A beautiful day as we head West on Hwy 54. Nice sunshine and a really pretty sky. Hate to keep moaning and groaning, but traveling in any vehicle is a major accomplishment. Will be so glad when my back is feeling better. Down to Osage Beach to turn by Arnold's statues, headed up the hill to the Osage Beach Library, hello to Vicky! She has been such a help to us over the years. Got more reading materials and back down to the Hwy to pull in and park. Walked around front to Laurie's Used Books and Internet Cafe. Always a pleasure to visit here, Darlin' got on the internet to do updates, I got to browse and check out the HUGE book selection. Hate to hear that Laurie is closing her store front, but she will still be selling her wonderful books online. She's been a great friend for years, wish her the best of luck! Even bought her flying eagle to give it a good home. Most of her store equipment is for sale, had to get some books I could not live without. Always a lot of traffic in her neighborhood, so near the outlet mall, shoppers galore. Welcome to the lake area! Have a safe trip and come travel the Back Way with us!

From our family, we are very grateful to all the Veterans over the years for serving our country and keeping us safe and free. We'd like to honor them all by saying Happy Veterans Day! We'll never forget all you've done for us!

Darlin', Marty and I are outside at 4:00 a.m. this morning to watch a GREAT meteorite shower! Marty didn't want to get up out of his warm bed, but once outside, you could tell he was having a good time! We took Aunt Bet's big blanket and spread it out on our round tub and it made a good viewing area. So many meteors falling, it looked like fireworks. We'd all be scanning the skies, there's one over here, oh my, there's another, and another and another! What an exciting start to the day! We stayed out for a couple of hours, taking turns going back in to warm up by the woodstove, we only had jackets and hats, hard to believe it's so warm for November! It was a great show and we enjoyed it tremendously! Hope you got to see it, too! Back inside for breakfast, thanks Darlin' and then all warm and full and back to bed for us all. Up later and we've had rain drizzles off and on all day, but still in the 60's. Can't complain about that!

Up as usual. Busy here with laundry, breakfast, the usual. My daughters Jesse and Robin are over to kidnap me and son, Marty to come over to their house for a day of baking! So wonderful to say my granddaughter, Sarah, was there, too! She's 16 months old now, walking, talking and so much fun! We got to cooking cornbread to eat and another batch for dressing! Made French coconut pie and several batches of chocolate chip cookies. It's fun to be playing in their kitchen! We got to meet several of their neighbors and friends as the day went along. Got the turkey stuffed and in the oven and Jesse brought us home with movies to watch! Nice quiet evening. Beautiful weather, everything is so nice and green, hard to believe it's almost Thanksgiving!

From our family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving! We made it! Had a GREAT feast with our children, Marty, Jesse, Robin and Ray, plus Dave, Brian, Pops, Sherry and of course, the star of the day, the grandbaby, Sarah Nicole! We have so much to be thankful for, we are truly blessed.

Reading library books until 2:00 a.m. All that ice tea sure did catch up with me! Woke up hearing Darlin' and friend, Little Ray's laughter. Sure a nice sound to hear. It's cloudy out but 60's, Darlin' lowered my clothesline so I can work without hurting too bad, taking down the dry laundry. Poor Marty gets stuck with carrying the wet clothes in the basket and hanging them out. He's been a tremendous help since my injury and I sure appreciate it! Darlin' is raking the leaves beside my flowerbeds and around the bird bath and statues by the steps. So nice out, you just can't help but work outside. Now he's got a hickory fire going and I'm thawing out stuff to cook. We always cook enough for days and days. We love hickory smoked meats. When you're driving down Hwy 54 and smell the hickory smoke, stop by and have lunch with us! Got all that done just in time, now it's thunder and lightning and Miller County is under a tornado warning until midnight! Getting extremely windy out, too! Ya'll be careful while out traveling the back way in this storm!

Busy day, sleeting out early. Darlin' keeps sweeping off our front steps so they won't be so slippery. Only got up to 35 degrees today for the high. Stoke the stove and lots of hot drinks. Darlin' is working on the computer, Marty is feeling better after being sick for several days. Darlin' had to take me to the emergency room for the pain in my back yesterday. Made for a pitiful back way home. Our sleet has now turned to rain, got quite a bit, but not one tiny little snowflake! The BLUE MOON out tonight is absolutely gorgeous! You can walk all over and it's so bright out, it's like daytime! Hope you got to enjoy it, too!
