Beautiful sunshine after a night of wonderful rain. Yes, we have puddles out! Heading West on Hwy 54. Lots of traffic out, as it's warm and in the 50's. How wonderful! We're heading up to Clinton today to do JCAD updates. The Lake of the Ozarks is green and wicked looking, has white caps across the top. The wind is really blowing. Lots of folks down at the Post Office. Stayed on Hwy 54 to Camdenton, population 2,561. At the Jct. of Hwy 54 and Hwy 5, turn right. Met Connie at a new antique store by the Wee Chef. She's been open 1 week! Good luck to you! On up to Greenview, turn left onto Hwy 7. Very windy as we go through Climax Springs. Ya'll get over! Why are all the vehicles coming at us in our lane?? Don't hurt the little red toy! Stopped by R-Convenience Store at the Jct. of Hwy 7 and Hwy 65. Good to see Mike! It's been a LONG time! Him and Nancy are such good folks. Stop in and see their store and tell 'em JCAD sent ya! Stay on Hwy 7 on into Warsaw, population 1, 696. Stopped at the Country Market Antique Mall to pass out JCAD brochures. Met some nice folks! On down the road, the Lake of the Ozarks Osage River is looking good, crossed the Truman Lake Osage Arm, the lake is beautiful! On into Tightwad, population 50. Left JCAD brochures at both antique stores. Good to see you Nancy! On into Clinton, population 8,703. Toyota is making strange noises. Darlin' stopped to look, water pump is going out. Stopped at the Auto Zone and Dale fixed us up with a new water pump, belt and antifreeze. Bought the stuff, hope Darlin' doesn't have to put it in on the way home. Stopped at The Emporium Flea Mall and had a good visit with Tom, Barbara and "the boss". Logan has turned 2 years old now! Great update, wonderful stuff in their store as always. Gave JCAD brochures to everyone! On over to see Merry at Wagon Wheel Antiques and Flea Market! How wonderful! The store is all different. These folks really work their booths! Enjoyed getting new update material. Thanks to BOTH stores in Clinton! They had their JCAD web page print out ready to go. We sure do appreciate that! Heading out of town as the sun is going down. How pretty! Taking Hwy 52 home, not as deserted as Hwy 7. Wish us luck to make it home the back way! Stay Warm! It's going to be winter time soon! ( P.S. Truck DID make it home, Wonderful Darlin', Robin and Marty are out with the yard lights on putting in the new water pump! Toy runs again! Thanks so much! Ya'll are the GREATEST! )

Beautiful sunshine and blue skies as we head East on Hwy 54. Everthing turning green again since we got rain. Robin is photographer and Back Way writer today. She added Robin's birthday will be soon! Yes, only 14 days away! :) Not much traffic out and the road is quite bouncy! The cedar trees look pretty on the lime bluffs. It's up in the 50's, hard to believe it's December! Most of the trees have lost their leaves now. They are bare but look really pretty. Sign says seven miles to Rt 17. As we are driving alone on Hwy 54, we get a glimpse of folks putting up Christmas lights at a pretty white Colonial house on the left. This one guy passed the truck still reading the URL on the tailgate! Come see JCAD online! There's a big barn with a tin roof to our left shining in the sunlight. Here we are, Eugene exit. Turned right, then a left by the Total station. Down to visit with Lloyd at Aged to Perfection. Always learn something new from him, he's been selling to folks from Oregan and California! How wonderful! Glad JCAD can help bring you new customers! Got to give a customer a JCAD brochure. He collected electric trains! Leave a message in the JCAD guestbook! Great update, fun photo's and off we go traveling the back way home. Thanks, Robin! You get an A for today's business class! Home and unloading work box and clipboards, getting ready to work on this update! Type at you soon!

Partly cloudy skies as Darlin' and I head East on Hwy 54. Warming up nicely. Lots of traffic heading towards Osage Beach, many have their headlights on. Stormy weather or safety? Big buses, RV's pulling cars, WELCOME to the Lake! The water tower from Eldon shines on the left. See the sign for Eldon, population 4,419. At the junction of Hwy 87 and M, take a left onto North Hwy 87, this is also East North Street. On down town to the sign for business district pointing to the left. This is Maple Street. Eldon sure has changed lately as far as community spirit. All the stores are talking to each other and working together to make this town grow and prosper! JCAD is proud of Ya'll! Keep up the good work! Waved at Randy as we head down the street. Stopped in Meg's tearoom to give her and her customers a new JCAD brochure. Smells wonderful in here! She has a GREAT tearoom and also many antiques and collectibles and vintage books. One day, I hope she'll be on JCAD, too! On down the street to Trade 'N Place. This store is always fantastic and Dan is a pleasure to visit with. Come listen to the jam session every Saturday! Or better yet, come join in! Great update, on down the road, heading home the back way. Houses and stores twinkle with colorful Christmas lights. I'm ready for a pretty snow! How about you?

Sunshine and blue skies as we head West on Hwy 54. Lots of traffic out today. Everyone out enjoying this fine weather. Heading back East on 54 and down to cross the Toll Bridge, didn't even get a chance to stop and enjoy the view! All the new places are greening up and all decked out for the holidays. On over to Sunrise Beach to visit with Bill and Billie at S & W Bargain Spot. Hey, they are having a half price sale from today through December 20th, 1999. They always have some of the neatest stuff! Unusual to the unique! Billie got to show us her dancing cowboy Santa! You couldn't help but laugh! They will be closing their store from December 20th, 1999 to January 20, 2000. Wishing all of you Happy Holidays! They'll see you next year! Got a great update, and off we go up Hwy 5 North to Laurie, Missouri. OOPS! Country Rose closes at 2:00 P.M. We're too late! Heading home the back way, be careful out there!

12/15/99
Heading on West 52 going to Versailles, Missouri. At the red light, just go straight across and you're on Hwy 5 South going towards Gravois Mills, population 101. Hey! The new bridge is open on Hwy TT. It's been many months since it got washed away! Gravois Creek is up high, too, for this time of year. On down enjoying the view to Laurie, Missouri to have a really nice visit with Betty at Country Rose Antiques and Gifts. She has been a busy woman! If you're looking for china, elegant glassware or nautical gifts, this is the place to go! Met nice customers and gave them all a JCAD brochure. Got a good update and off back up Hwy 5 going North this time, backtracking to Eldon. Got to get a GREAT update at Past 'N Present. Don and Lola are always a treat to visit with. Got good photo's and had to laugh as the Christmas tree opened his eyes and started talking and singing to me! HA! They have been really busy, their store has changed so much! Come see for yourself and please let them know you traveled the back way to get here! Happy Holidays!

12/20/99
Blue skies and sunshine out today and a cold 28 degrees! Wonderful Darlin', Marty and Robin worked on the Toyota and trailer yesterday. Thanks guys and gal! Wheels greased and ready to roll again! The 20's are supposed to be the high for today and falling temperatures this evening. The weatherman is calling for 4 degrees tonight. Burr! We turned left onto Hwy FF after going East on Hwy 54. Watch out for the 2 curves! They're doozies! Entering Cole County, crossed Moreau Creek and into the community of Enon. The big white Enon Baptist Church sign says it was established in 1904. We passed a mailbox with lots of sparkling decorations and see the lady on the back putting them up! At the stop sign, turn right onto Hwy 87. Poor cows don't have any pasture, it's just now starting to turn green. It was a tough drought this summer. Darlin' and I have our red Santa hats on and feeling the Christmas spirit. I, as Mrs. Clause, in my red Santa hat, delivered brochures to Burgers Smokehouse. Back tracking to Hwy T towards a new back way, Wood's Crossing and noticed fruit trees, split rail fence and birdhouses on the left, one right after the other. Now we see a fruit orchard on the left and beautiful homes. Some shaded places still have a dusting of snow from last night. Sign reads Corticelli, then it ends at Jct. Hwy C. Turn left onto C, ponds are sparkling blue in the sunshine. Huge cedar trees on the left beside the road. On the right, a huge pond, park like setting and yellow and green John Deere tractor shrine? with big bow on the tractor! Enloe cemetery is coming up on the left. Leaving Moniteau County and back into Cole County! Russellville, population 816. Took Hwy U towards Centertown. New back way for us. Feels like Arkansas, we're riding the ridge, back down into the valley, then back up on the ridge! Big beautiful bluff on the right as we cross the creek. Into Centertown, population 356. The antique store is empty! Told them they should get a web page on JCAD! They laugh when I say that, I'm not just talking because it's our business, it's a GREAT way for country stores to be found by city people! The locals can't support you. Stopped at Fluegel Equipment Company and as each year, traded a JCAD brochure for a new calendar! Thanks! Had to drive down by the commuter parking to look at the emu's and found a really nice house empty! What a nice place and across from the Post Office! Stopped at a really nice shop, Longfellow's Garden Center. They have some great stuff and they are even on-line! Left JCAD brochures for all and got info about their business! Come see them! It's worth the drive! West on Hwy 50 towards California, Missouri, population 3,465. Entered Moniteau County again. Stopped for a real nice visit at Recollectibles, gotta tell Santa they've been good! HA! Lots of salt on the road, guess the road crews were out early. Big bales of hay sprinkled with snow on top! Crossed Moniteau Creek again! Darlin' saw something in the sky, then I got a glimpse of it, too! It reflected like an airplane, but it was white, funny shaped, and then it disappeared. We looked and looked, but never did see it again. Turned onto Hwy 179 towards Jamestown and finally got our chance to have our photo taken with the Lewis and Clark trail sign. They're always pointing out the trail, so now we are, too! "Joe and Cathy's Antique Trail" ha ha About got run over setting up the camera on the roof of the Toyota, me out by the sign, Darlin' running across to get in the shot, it was COLD and EXCITING! Back in the truck to warm up and take Hwy U. What a view, you can see for miles and miles. Hang a right onto D Hwy up to Hwy 87. Entering Cooper County. Take a left on Hwy 87 into Prarie Home, population 215. Take a left onto Hwy J, then a right onto Hwy U. Crossed Big Clarks Fork Creek, met a guy on a tractor all bundled up with coveralls and a blue ski mask. Burr, it's cold out! Little Clarks Fork Creek is looking good! Ski Missouri! They got a lot more snow here! The bluffs are white and beautiful! How pretty! Crossed the bridge at Petite Saline Creek and into the town of Boonville. Down to hand out brochures at Your Money's Worth, and then back to Hy 5 Antique Mall. What can I say? Joe and Stephanie were gone, the store all dark and no one there! Left the update info in an orange JCAD brochure held down by a cinder block at their front door! Heading home the back way on Hwy B to Hwy J, then Hwy O and back to Hwy 87. The sky is beautiful, a front moving in from the south, the sky is on fire with pastel colors, blue, pink, purple! Looks like a sunset on the east and the west! Hope you got to get out and enjoy it, too! See ya next time!
